About the work
This atmospheric painting shows a lone figure striding beneath a rust-colored umbrella, holding its course through a curtain of turquoise rain rather than turning toward the two blue birds that rest together on a ledge nearby. The shelter it carries keeps out the storm, but also everything else, inviting viewers to reflect on how pride can protect us while quietly keeping us apart from others.
